I am requesting to take two or three students to the International Experimental Media Congress in Toronto, Ontario 7-10 April, 2010.

The IEMC would be a wonderful event for students to attend. The International Experimental Media Congress will provide a perfect forum for students to meet artists in their field and view internationally renowned films.  Also they will interact with curators, programmers, gallerists, theorists, activists and writers of experimental film, video and related time-based media art.

I have been asked to present at the upcoming IEMC.  It also coincides with 23rd Images Film Festival (1-10 April), which is arguably one of the best experimental film festivals in North America.  I showed some of my films at the Images Film Festival two years ago and I will be showing my new films there in April.

The exposure to high-end filmmaker would be an asset to the students’ development as artists and scholars.  When we return the students will have to prepare a presentation on what they experienced at the Congress.

I am requesting funds for round trip flights from Charlottesville, Virginia to Toronto, Ontario April 6-11 ($345 apiece), hotel rooms ($110 a night) and food. Total cost is around $2500.
